When the mind is joyful and compassionate, the world is too while when your mind is filled with negative thoughts the world appears negative, too. This chapter in a nutshell explains that world is experienced according to the state of one’s mind. The author recommends the readers to take their time and reflect on what they’ve read instead of rushing through the book like any other novel.Ĭhapter 1 of the book is brilliant with the question always popping in most of our heads ‘Why am i so busy?’ Sunim has offered the spiritual advice on everything from handling the stress at work to your personal life and relationships. The book is a collection of the universal truths, wonderfully expressed suitable for our lifestyles, where we are always running to keep pace with the world. I flipped through the pages with cutest doodle illustrations about each chapter and each of the spiritual advice quoted in minimum words and short paragraphs which are definitely the add on factors to pick this book impulsively. In this tech savvy generation of ours where self help books are often treated like a burdened read for ‘most’ of us this book by Haemin Sunim, who is a Zen buddhist monk is a blessing (for those who read it) I was going through a phase at work with vigorous travelling and the book’s subtitle drew my attention ‘How to be calm in a busy world’ which was the need of the hour at that point in time. I came across this book accidentally while one of my travels for work at one of the book store at Delhi Airport.
